ICT Week

National ICT Careers Week 2013

The Victorian information and communication technology (ICT) industry is an important part of the Victorian economy and ICT is critical to addressing social and environmental challenges.

The Victorian Government has recognised the importance of a responsive, highly-skilled and versatile workforce by investing around $2 million to deliver Victoria's ICT Skills Initiatives.

Through the delivery of collaborative activities with industry and education providers, these initiatives focus on encouraging students to pursue ICT-related careers, tapping into alternative potential sources of workers, and delivering training programs that are responsive to industry needs.

ICT offers diverse pathways for students to develop exciting and varied careers. However, in meeting the surging demand for ICT professionals across a wide range of industries it is important the next generation of workers is equipped with a broad range of ICT skills and abilities.

The Victorian Government values the work of VITTA and the role it plays in developing Victoria’s ICT educators and career advisors.

Minister for Technology
The Hon Gordon Rich-Phillips MLC

Shaun Tan is a Melbourne-based freelance artist and illustrator whose award winning children's books deal with social, political and historical subjects through surreal, dream-like imagery.
